Who we are, What we do

The Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (trapca) was established in 2006 as a joint initiative of the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) and Lund University of Sweden, with funding from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). The Centre is hosted at the ESAMI headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania

Academic Training


trapca offers academic courses at the Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced and Masters of Science level.

Tailored Courses

Policy Forums


trapca organizes policy dialogue events, as a platform for researchers, practitioners and policymakers to interface and deliberate on key trade policy issues to on-going developments at national, regional and multilateral level.

I write to inform you that I assumed the position of Economist with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Harare Office, having worked for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development for the past 9 years. Not surprisingly, this degree has opened me up to a world of opportunity. Even before I had completed the MSc, I was able to secure a job as Regional Coordinator of the Regional Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ReNAPRI) moving from my job as Policy Analyst for Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) on the basis of graduating in November…At the tender age of just 25, I have been able to achieve quite a lot and look forward to contributing substantially to the development of consistent, coherent, regional agricultural policy and applying all that I have learnt from trapca

I am delighted to inform you that I was offered a position in USAID in a new initiative called Power Africa Trade Africa as their Office Manager.
